Campus facilities during lockdown

Following the Government’s announcement of a third national lockdown earlier in the week, we will be limiting our presence on campus to essential activities only.

Library

Our library is currently closed but will be operating a click and collect service for books and laptops. Our wide range of digital resources and online learning support will remain available, along with library support available via live chat 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Loan periods on print books and laptops will be automatically extended, so please don’t worry about returning items to the library until the building re-opens. For those students who need an appropriate study-space, the atrium of the Spark will remain open to be used.

Support services

• Our Therapy and Mental Health Team are not currently able to offer face-to-face sessions, but all the different therapeutic, counselling and mental health support is still being delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams Video/Audio or telephone sessions. To make an appointment visit the portal pages, or email mh@solent.ac.uk.
• Our Student Funding Team can be emailed at funding@solent.ac.uk or via the general enquiries form. A phone call back service can be arranged between 1-4.30pm Monday- Thursday and 1-3pm Friday. All support grant application forms and further information is available on the portal.
• Access Solent, our disability and neurodiversity advice and support service, can be emailed at access@solent.ac.uk or find more information and book a remote drop-in on the SOL page.
• Solent Futures can provide support with CVs, mock interviews, job hunting and more via email- providing everything you need to succeed in your future career. You can also book a 45 minute Careers Guidance appointment which is delivered online. Check out Solent Futures Online to access the job board for part-time roles, placements, and graduate opportunities.

Testing centre

Our free, on-campus testing centre is open. It is essential that every student and staff member is tested weekly for Covid-19, and that you should not attend campus until you have received a negative result.

If you receive a positive test or have been asked to self-isolate, please let us know by emailing covid.support@solent.ac.uk so that we can make sure you are getting all the support you need. Staff should inform their manager.
