Download the new NHS Covid-19 app

Helping us all to support the NHS by reducing the spread of Covid-19

23rd September 2020

The NHS Covid-19 app is part of a large-scale Covid-19 testing and contact tracing programme – and you can get involved by downloading the app, then using the QR codes up around campus to ‘check-in’.

The app goes live on Thursday 24 September and will help the NHS understand if the virus is spreading in a particular area, so local authorities can respond quickly to stop it spreading further and save lives.

If you choose to download the app, there are six key features aimed at keeping you, and our community safe:

  • Trace - Get alerted if you’ve been near other app users who have tested positive
  • Alert - Lets you know the level of Covid-19 risk in your postcode district
  • Check-in - Get alerted if you have recently visited a venue where you may have come into contact with Covid-19
  • Symptoms - Check if you have Covid-19 symptoms and see if you need to order a free test
  • Test - Helps you book a test and get your result
  • Isolate - Keep track of your self-isolation countdown and access relevant advice

Please be aware that the app cannot personally identify you or track your location, and any information supplied cannot be accessed by law enforcement, the NHS or the government. You can choose to delete your data or the app at any time.

To download the app, search for ‘NHSCOVID-19’ in the App Store or Google Play Store on your phone, then ‘check-in’ whenever you pass a QR code poster around campus.
