Mentoring Focus Programme 2021/22

Now open for applications

26th October 2021

Solent Futures run a professional mentoring programme, called the Focus Programme. The mentoring programme is an initiative to help improve the employability of students by matching them to industry professionals. The scheme aims to help students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the graduate job market or to achieve their ambition of starting a business or going into further study.

Who can join the programme?

Each year, Solent Futures works with a targeted group of students based on the recommendations in our Access and Participation Plan. The scheme is currently aimed at second-year students that identify as female, with a particular focus on students who are from a Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic background. Students from any course can apply.

Applications for the 2021/22 programme are now open. Applications close on 14 November 2021. You can apply here >

Why get involved?

Don’t take our word for it, read what previous students who have been involved in the programme have said:

“My mentor has been extremely helpful in managing and giving advice and helping me connect with people from the industry.”

“It’s a good opportunity to take especially if you need help preparing yourself for your future.”

You can find out more about the scheme by watching this film >

How does the programme work?

Once students submit their application form, a member of Solent Futures will be in contact to arrange an induction to the programme. You will then be matched with a mentor by December 2021 and meet them on campus in January 2022 when the programme begins.

If you would like to talk to a member of the Solent Futures team about the programme in more detail, please email mentoring@solent.ac.uk.
