Supporting COP26 at Solent

Join us on our Environment Day and other events in support of COP26

11th October 2021

In line with the University’s 2025 Strategy and in order to strengthen our environmental sustainability agenda, Solent is running an 'Environment Day' on Wednesday 3 November to mark the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26).

What is COP26?

The COP26 Climate Change Conference is running from 31 October to 12 November 2021 in Glasgow, with parties, including the UK, working to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

How we’re supporting COP26 at Solent

At Solent, we're committed to making a substantive contribution to addressing the challenges presented by the climate and ecological crisis through our teaching, research, campus operations and engagement with students, staff and the wider community.

You can view Solent’s sustainability strategy here >

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be supporting COP26 with a range of events and initiatives, including our Environment Day on Wednesday 3 November.

Student lectures will have a sustainable focus, where possible, including sustainable tourism, sustainable fashion, waste-free cooking/nutrition, green engineering, wellbeing and social justice.

Our access and widening participation team will also be running an activity day on campus for one of our partner schools, St John’s, aiming to showcase the versatility of studying art and design by using recyclable materials.
