When unreleased, Fred Lane submitted their music video for the Southampton Film Week 2024 where they won under the category of ‘Best Music Video’.

The music video depicts a man who goes on a lengthy travel in order to reach his destination. During his travels, the music video showcases well known areas in Hampshire such as Mettricks in Southampton and the Hamble-Warsash Ferry.

Band members of Fred Lane

During an interview with the band, I asked them who their musical inspirations were and they replied by saying that they are inspired by several genres including 80s synth music. Their favourite artists and musical inspirations are ‘LCD soundsystem’, ‘Hot Chip’, ‘David Bowie’, ‘Talking Heads’, ‘The Beatles’ and ‘The Doors’. However, they have made it clear that although they look up to these artists, they want to be themselves, ‘We’re aiming to be different, you know. We don’t want to be LCD soundsystem … we want to be Fred Lane’, said Valentina Longo.
