Evolution of Story III: Having a Larp : A Symposium on Immersion, Liveness, and the Qualities of Experience

The symposium takes place on Tuesday 17 June 2025 and this international event brings together scholars, artists, game designers, and theatre-makers to examine how larp reshapes narrative, liveness, and audience engagement.

Pre-recorded keynote and research video-papers will be released on YouTube ahead of the day, which features a full live programme of interactive, participatory sessions hosted on the social platform Remo.

• Panel: Filling the Void(space) — Participatory Dramaturgies and Community Building
  With Katy Naylor (Voidspace), Jack Aldisert, Tom Black, Owen Kingston & Chloe Mashiter
• Open Space Session: Spontaneity is a Lie (But a Beautiful One)
  Inspired by Simon Brind’s keynote on power, structure and the myth of emergence in larp
  
  
• Larp: What We Leave Behind
  A collaborative online larp designed and hosted by Dr Adam Jerrett, blending ritual, music, memory and imagination

The event also marks the launch of a forthcoming special issue of Storyworlds: A Journal of Narrative Studies (University of Nebraska Press), featuring selected symposium contributions.
