Louise will share her journey since graduating from Solent, including how she started her own business, LBN Innovations
Following the revealing of the purple plaque earlier in the day, join us for an exclusive 'in-conversation' discussion with Solent alumna, Louise Ben-Nathan. Hosted by Will Cope, Head of Film and Media, Louise will share insights to her journey since graduating from Solent in 1998.
Louise studied BA (Hons) Film Studies and has since gone on to establish her own enterprise, LBC Innovations. LBN Innovations believes in hearing women's experiences and designing innovative solutions to meet their needs. In particular, Louise has been working to develop a revolutionary medical device to replace the speculum for cervical screening, providing a more comfortable and patient-centric experience. Through dedication to research, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and a focus on inclusivity, LBN Innovations is determined to bridge the gap in women's healthcare.
Prior to this Louise was a designer and importer of all-weather acrylic clapper sticks into the UK for sale into the UK film and television industry. Having noticed that wooden clapper sticks refused to make a sound in the rain when they got wet, Louise decided to innovate. The product went through vigorous testing and became a staple fixture in the UK film and television consumables market. This product can now be found under the brand Filmsticks.
This is a fantastic example of an innovative and entrepreneurial Solent alumna who, through applying research, is continuing to make a difference within industry and society. Head to the Palmerston lecture theatre to hear from Louise and pick up some tips on how to support your future entrepreneurial ambitions.
