Join us as we welcome special guest, Solent alumna, Louise Ben-Nathan as she unveils the award she received from Innovate UK
Southampton Solent University alumna, Louise Ben-Nathan graduated from Solent in 1998, having studied BA (Hons) Film Studies. Since graduating, Louise has gone on to set up LBN Innovations, an innovative start-up committed to addressing an unmet patient need in women's health care.
LBN Innovations believes in hearing women's experiences and designing innovative solutions to meet their needs. In particular, Louise has been working to develop a revolutionary medical device to replace the speculum for cervical screening, providing a more comfortable and patient-centric experience. Through dedication to research, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and a focus on inclusivity, LBN Innovations is determined to bridge the gap in women's healthcare.
In 2024, Louise was awarded a Purple Plaque by Innovate UK. The plaque is awarded as part of the Women in Innovation Awards, recognising the contribution of women to the STEM agenda. The Purple Plaque has been donated to Solent University by Louise and will be revealed within the Spark building through a small on-campus ceremony when Professor James Knowles will officially reveal the plaque, alongside Louise. Staff and students are very welcome to join in.
The ceremony will take place near to the video wall, so please drop by and join us in celebrating this achievement of a Solent alumna. If you have any questions regarding the event please contact the Communities Development Team within the Research Office.
