Join the Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC) Staff Network for an exciting drop-in event celebrating the rich diversity within our community!
The Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) Staff Network is excited to invite staff and students to a celebration of cultural diversity on Monday 31 March, in the Spark Atrium from 12pm to 4pm.
This event has been thoughtfully designed to showcase the rich diversity that exists within our community, offering an afternoon filled with delicious food, artistic expression, and global music.
Attendees will have the chance to enjoy two cuisines from Thailand and the Caribbean, providing a unique opportunity to explore flavours that represent different corners of the world. In addition to the food, there will be a professional henna artist demonstrating the beauty of henna tattoos, with attendees welcome to get a henna design on the day.
As part of the event’s focus on sharing culture through food, there will also be a "Recipe Box" stationed in the Spark Atrium, encouraging everyone to contribute a favourite recipe. Whether it's a dish that holds special childhood memories or a recent culinary discovery, the aim is to gather recipes from across our community and compile them into a collective e-recipe book for all to enjoy. To keep the energy high, a DJ will be present, playing a mix of music inspired by different cultures around the world.
Dr. Shakiba Moghadam, Chair of the BIPOC Staff Network, warmly encourages all staff and students to attend the event, enjoy some delicious food, contribute a recipe, and immerse themselves in a celebration of culture and connection.
The event will take place in the Spark Atrium and will run from 12pm to 4pm, allowing attendees to drop in at any time throughout the afternoon.
This is a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate our diverse backgrounds, and create meaningful connections through the universal language of food, music, and shared experiences.
When: 12 – 4pm (drop in anytime!)
