The vaccination will be available to new students in Welcome Week - come along to our pop-up!
Earlier this year, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) announced a MenB vaccination programme, which launched in summer 2026. The programme is open to all year 13 students and anyone under the age of 25 who is starting university this year.
The MenB vaccination protects against disease caused by meningococcal group B (MenB) bacteria. These bacteria can lead to severe and life-threatening conditions, specifically meningitis and septicaemia.
We are pleased to share that Solent will be hosting a pop-up vaccination clinic on campus during Welcome Week for eligible students who have not yet had their first dose.
Details of the clinic have been added to your Welcome Week timetable. Come along to room TS008 in the Spark on Monday 21 and Wednesday 23 September, between 10am and 4pm. No booking required.
Returning students are unfortunately not eligible for the DHSC programme but can still get the vaccination for a fee of £90.
The clinic will return in the autumn to supply the necessary second dose. Two doses are essential for full protection! Details will be shared soon.
Please visit the Student Hub or email student.hub@solent.ac.uk if you have any queries.
