We received close to 300 individual entries this year and shortlisted works will be exhibited in shipping containers in Southampton's Guildhall Square opening Tuesday 18 March 5-7pm.
The Southampton Solent University College Competition 2025 invited Photography and Fine Art students from sixth form and further education colleges across the South to submit 2D and 3D works.
Helping judging the competition are Mia Delve, Creative Programme Manager, 'a space' arts and Daniel Crow, Director of 'a space' arts based in Southampton.
This is the second year that the competition, organised by BA (Hons) Photography and BA (Hons) Fine Art course teams, has been held, and judging from the success of last year's competition, and the number of entries received this year, it's expected to become even bigger in the future.
Course Leader Photography, Nina Sverdvik, says "every artwork submitted showed incredible skill, creativity and maturity and it's unfortunate that we can't exhibit all 300! However, what made the shortlisted entries stand out was their willingness to take some risk and think outside the box. This has resulted in some really interesting and visually stunning art works".
Shortlisted works will be exhibited in shipping containers in Southampton's Guildhall Square from Tuesday 18 March. The opening event is on Tuesday 18 March, 5-7pm.
