Key information for EU/EEA and Swiss students

UK immigration is changing. What do EU/EEA and Swiss students need to know?

17th December 2020

The rights of nationals from the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland who have made their home in the UK are protected under the EU Settlement Scheme. The guidance on how to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme and eligibility criteria are available on our portal page. To be eligible you need to demonstrate that you were a resident in the UK prior to 11pm on Thursday 31 December 2020.

All 'overseas' international students as well as EU, EEA and Swiss nationals arriving in the UK after Friday 1 January 2021, who not eligible for the EU Settlement Scheme, will be subject to the same Immigration regulations. Please ensure you are familiar with this guidance.

We have a lot of scenario-based FAQs as well as videos available on the portal which we ask that you read carefully before contacting our International Support Service with your queries.

We have information sessions for continuing EU/EEA and Swiss students on the following dates:

Thursday 17 December 2020 at 1 pm (UK time)

Tuesday 22 December 2020 at 10 am (UK time)

Friday 8 January 2021 at 10 am (UK time)
