We’ve joined the University Mental Health Charter Programme

Continuing to make health and wellbeing a priority

29th September 2022

As we hope you know, our staff and students’ health and wellbeing is our top priority, and we’re very pleased to announce that Solent has been accepted onto the University Mental Health Charter Programme for 2022/23.

The Charter Programme brings together universities committed to making mental health a university-wide priority to share practice and create cultural change.

The University Mental Health Charter is supported by a framework, encasing a set of evidence-informed principles to support universities to adopt a whole-university approach to mental health and wellbeing. The framework includes:

  • The transition to university
  • Learning, teaching and assessments
  • Support services
  • Physical environments incl. accommodation
  • Staff wellbeing and development

The University will be working towards achieving the charter over the current academic year, aiming for completion by summer 2023. We’re excited to learn and implement good practices, to further support our Mental Health and Wellbeing Vision 2018-2025.
