Travel and transport
Our East Park Terrace campus is located in the city centre of Southampton and consequently benefits from being accessible via all modes of transport.
For staff, students and visitors travelling from outside the city, the main campus is a short 15 to 20 minute walk from both the central train station and the central coach station who provide regular services into the city.
There is a variety of online travel apps that provide live information about travel services across the city.
My Journey Southampton provides information and timetables for the different bus services operating across the Southampton and Hampshire region and information is updated in real time.
Southampton City Council has developed a cross-city cycle network to allow cyclists safe routes in and around the city, you can find the network to your area on their website.
The Breeze app shows you the quickest, cheapest and most eco-friendly options for the journey you want to take.
You can use Breeze to book e-scooters, and bikes and e-bikes, as well as plan journeys involving multiple types of transport. You can purchase your tickets via the app.
Our East Park Terrace campus hosts VOI e-scooter and cycle geocache parking zones, located by the Sports Complex. E-scooters are a cheap, convenient and, above all fun, way to travel around the city. Parking zones can be found at multiple locations in the city centre and out in the local suburb areas, providing opportunities to use the scooters for varying distances.
Please be aware that to use the scooters you must be aged over 18 and hold a valid UK drivers licence.
Private e-scooters are illegal and should never be used, and are not permitted to be stored on campus.
VOI offers standard and electric bikes for hire, their website has videos showing how to use both their bikes and scooters and there are discounts available to students so visit their website for further details.
If you're already a keen cyclist with your own bicycle, or plan to get yourself a bike, there are additional resources available both on campus and from the local community to help you keep moving.
You can download the VOI app from your app store and find out more on their website. You can also hire VOI scooters and bikes via the Breeze app.
