Hate Crime Awareness Week at Southampton Solent University 10–17 October 2026.
This October, Southampton Solent University is proud to stand alongside communities across the UK to mark National Hate Crime Awareness Week.
Hate crime is any incident driven by hostility or prejudice related to race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender identity. Sadly, it’s something many people experience but together, we can challenge it and help create a more inclusive, respectful campus for everyone.
Hate crime doesn’t just affect individuals, it can impact whole communities, creating fear and division. By learning how to recognise it and knowing how to respond, we can all play a part in making Solent a safer place. Speaking up really does make a difference, every report helps build a clearer picture and supports those affected.
Join us on Thursday 15 October, 11am–2pm in the Spark building.
You’ll find the Student Hub, Safeguarding Team, and representatives from Hampshire Police on hand to:
Share advice on recognising and reporting hate crime
Provide information on support services and your rights
Answer questions in a friendly, informal space
Plus, you’ll have the chance to win an Amazon voucher by taking part in a short survey.
If you’ve experienced or witnessed hate crime, you’re not alone - support is here:
Report via Report + Support: Report a concern - Report and Support | Student portal
Speak to the Student Hub for confidential advice or to report through their third-party hate crime reporting centre
In an emergency, always call 999
