The Solent Computing and AI Research Group invites you to a guest talk on human factors in cyber security, with Johncollins Onyechi
Industry breach reports, including Verizon's Data Breach Investigations Report, consistently find a human element in the majority of breaches. Yet many organisations still treat security as a purely technical problem.
This session explores the human side of cybersecurity through the lens of the cybersecurity poverty line: the gap facing charities, small businesses and care providers that hold sensitive data but cannot afford enterprise-grade protection.
Drawing on real-world cases, it examines why these organisations are attractive targets and what effective, low-cost security looks like in practice. It closes with practical career guidance, including routes into the profession through mentoring and volunteering with CyberWE.
The lecture will conclude with an opportunity for questions and discussion, allowing attendees to engage with the speaker and explore the latest developments in this area.
This promises to be an insightful and inspiring session, open to all students and staff with interests in human factors in cyber security.
We warmly encourage you to attend and look forward to welcoming you to this exciting event.
Please contact at shakeel.ahmad@solent.ac.uk if you have any questions.
