Selling prints, jewellery, clothing and homeware designed by students and graduates, Re:So is celebrating spring with a beautiful new layout and new products.
Re:So, based in The Spark, is now a year old and has recently undergone a complete refit.
The shop, a Solent initiative aimed at showcasing the creative talents of Solent students and graduates, re-opened on Tuesday 4 March and staff, students and members of the public are warmly welcomed to come and take a look at the new space.
The Re:So shop benefits students across a variety of courses by providing work-based learning and hands-on experience, it also gives creative students a platform and a place to sell their wares.
The initiative derives from the University’s work-based learning modules, providing students with the experience of applying for a placement or job, being interviewed, and ultimately working in roles such as merchandising, social media, marketing, and product photography. Students also get the experience of working as a team on pop-up and community events.
BA (Hons) Sports Journalism student, Dan Farmer, who is working in the shop through Solent's Campus Jobs scheme says: "Working at Re:So has allowed me to continue building onto my CV with a new angle on my previous work in retail. I have been able to further develop my people and communication skills, which will be vital to my future as an aspiring Sports Journalist. It's also enjoyable to earn whilst learning how the day to day running of a small business works."
Four students are currently employed by Campus Jobs to work at the shop, and they are from a range of courses, not just art and design subjects. A work-based learner from Fashion Styling and Creative Direction is also getting hands-on experience for the Work Based Learning for Fashion and the Creative Industries module.
