Erasmus+ to provide new international opportunities for students and staff

Securing the Charter means we will be able to participate in the Erasmus+ programme from the 2027/28 academic year and bid for funding from January 2027.

Erasmus+ will give our students new opportunities to study, work and gain valuable experience overseas, helping them broaden their horizons, experience different cultures and develop the skills and confidence that will help them become career-ready graduates.

It will also give staff the opportunity to train or teach in Europe with funding, opening new avenues for upskilling and the chance to pursue exciting overseas opportunities.

As well as ensuring staff and students can pursue their own goals, Erasmus+ creates new opportunities for our staff to work closely with universities, businesses and organisations across Europe on innovative and forward thinking projects.

Our commitment to providing international experiences for our students is already strong. As the UK Government’s Turing Scheme comes to an end this year, we currently have more than £200,000 available to support student overseas activities, including study placements, work placements and combined study and work opportunities.

From 2027/28, Erasmus+ funding will help us build on this work, creating even more opportunities for international mobility and collaboration.

Our Erasmus Charter success is another important step in growing Solent’s international reach. It follows our new international partnership with Exeed, which will see Solent-accredited courses taught digitally across the Middle East.

Together, these developments reflect our ambition to connect our students, staff and partners with opportunities around the world and bring a truly international dimension to the Solent experience.
