New claims system live Tuesday 5 May

20 April 2026

For all staff and students who use VTS (VT2000) to claims hours, Focus is our new system that replaces VTS with effect from Tuesday 5 May 2026.

From this date onwards, you will need to claim hours in the Focus self-service system immediately after working them, as VTS will no longer be available.

Please note that the biggest change with Focus is that you can only claim for hours in the current pay period. So in order to prevent delays in payments being made to you, please ensure that you claim immediately after working any hours so that these can be authorised and paid to you without undue delay.

A page with details on how to access Focus, along with user guides and helpful recordings, will be available on both the staff and student portal shortly. User guides and recordings will be available for both claimants and authorisers as well as a frequently asked questions and answers document. Please ensure you review these thoroughly before looking to make your first claims or to authorise your first claims via Focus.

Please note that any claims up until the Focus go-live, can still be made as usual using VTS (VT2000).

You will continue to be paid via SolentConnect for any claims submitted and approved and be able to access your payslips via SolentConnect for any hours currently claimed via VTS and Focus from Tuesday 5 May. Please be aware that at present SolentConnect does not have the full functionality to be utilised to claim hours, hence why we need Focus as a solution to replace VTS which will now be decommissioned.
