The Saudi Founding Day event presented a unique opportunity for staff and students to engage in discussions about the kingdom of Saudi Arabia's history, culture, and heritage.
The event was hosted by the newly formed Solent Arabic Society and celebrated Saudi heritage with an afternoon filled with engaging activities, traditional music and delicious Saudi-inspired treats.
This was the second time Saudi Foundation Day has been celebrated at Solent, and this year's event was even bigger than last year's, with over 300 students and staff attending.
Highlights of the event included:
- Opportunities to taste traditional Saudi coffee, treats and snacks
- A chance to experiment with Henna art
- kohl eyeliner tutorials
- Arabic quiz and prizes
- Arabic fashion displays
- Arabic language tutorials
The event was organised by International Support and Hala Shafei (2nd year Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science) and the newly found Arabic society.
Hala said "The Saudi Founding Day event was a fantastic experience, bringing students together to celebrate and learn about Saudi culture. It was amazing to see how many students from non-Arab backgrounds enjoyed it, showing great interest and enthusiasm. The event was a huge success, and I’d love to organize more events like this in the future!"
