Welcome to Solent

11 September 2026

Welcome, new students! We hope you are excited about getting stuck into your first term at university.

We know that many of you will be arriving at our residences over the next week, so please read below to find out what we have planned for you from Monday 21 September and how you can prepare for the new term.

If you haven’t already, please take a look at the Hello Uni page on our website to find out how we can help make your first few months at Solent as successful as possible.

Download the MySolent app to find your emails, campus map, timetable and lots more support. And if you download the app Friday 9 October, you could win a Samsung Galaxy S26!

All students will have a course enrolment slot in their Welcome Week timetable. Please head to the Spark atrium to be enrolled by the admissions and enrolment team so they can issue you with your campus card. Feel free to ask the team any questions – we’re all here to help!

Welcome events

We’ve been working with the Solent Students’ Union (SU) to plan a full calendar of events for you over the next few weeks, and there’s something for everyone. Take a look at the below timetables for events run by the University:

Welcome Week 2026 timetable >

**Change to timetables - School of Health and Sport, and School of Creative Industries students are invited to the Welcome BBQ on Monday and School of Business, Law and Society, and School of Technology and Maritime Industries should attend on Tuesday.**

You can find the Students’ Union’s events (Fresher's Fair, Sip and Paint, quizzes, cinema nights, and much more) on their website.

All of our Welcome Week events are also open to returning students on levels 5 and 6 – feel free to come along!

Also, join our new student group chat on Instagram! We'll be sharing events, discounts, opportunities and top tips.

The library

The Library is open throughout Welcome Week for students to find and access information sources, make use of the range of study spaces and computing facilities available or have a chat with staff and ask any questions about the Library. Please check the Library’s opening hours before visiting.

The Library also welcomes all new students to make use of the Wellbeing Area. There are games, puzzles, wellbeing books and comfy quiet areas to make use of. There is also the Library's Wellbeing guide for links and resources to support wellbeing while studying.

As an introduction to what Solent Library has to offer, students are invited to take part in a Scavenger Hunt which will lead you around the Library building, introducing key services, resources and facilities, all the while collecting pieces of information. Access the Scavenger Hunt online to learn more.
