We are supporting student mobility with Turing Funding

Turing funding is available to all students who take up work or volunteering opportunities abroad.

At Solent University, the Global Mobility Team is dedicated to providing students with enriching international experiences through the Turing Scheme. This initiative, introduced by the UK government to replace the Erasmus+ program, aims to enhance student mobility worldwide.

Global Mobility Team's Role

The Global Mobility Team plays a crucial role in facilitating these opportunities for students. Here’s how we support the Turing Scheme:

  1. Financial Support:
    • We manage the allocation of Turing funding, ensuring that students receive the necessary financial support for their international experiences
    • The team provides guidance on additional funding options and helps students navigate the application process.
  1. Events and Information Sessions:
    • We organise events such as the “Turing & Beyond: Global Opportunities Fair” to inform students about available programs and how to apply for Turing funding
    • Regular drop-in sessions and workshops are held to answer questions and provide personalised advice.
  1. Online Resources:
    • Comprehensive information about Turing funding and international opportunities is available on the SOL page and the student portal
    • FAQs, application forms, and success stories are accessible online to help students make informed decisions.
  1. Personalised Support:
    • The team offers one-on-one consultations to assist students in planning their international experiences.
    • We provide ongoing support throughout the application process and during their time abroad.
  1. Incoming exchange students
    • The team also support the incoming exchange students, this group of students come from our partner universities to spend a semester or full year at Solent, they enter our courses at level 5 in a variety of course, such as Business Management, Media Production, Film or IT.

Looking Ahead

We are currently preparing our bid for the next round of Turing Scheme funding for the 2024/2025 academic year. This new bid includes funding for shorter mobility periods, with opportunities for students to participate in international experiences lasting as little as two weeks

This expansion aims to make global opportunities more accessible to a broader range of students.

Get Involved

Staff members are encouraged to promote these opportunities to students and participate in events to better understand the support available. For more information, visit the SOL page (please self enrol) or contact the Global Mobility Team directly.
