Safeguarding adults
Safeguarding adults is about stopping or preventing abuse or neglect of adults with care and support needs or where an adult is a risk of harm or vulnerable to harm due to a set of circumstances, for example the adult has been a victim of a sexual offence or domestic abuse.
Solent University has a duty of care to deliver its education and pastoral services to a high standard and in carrying out its services and functions to act reasonably to protect the health, safety and welfare of its students.
Referrals at Solent
The Solent University safeguarding manager and student experience team are in place to support you with any safeguarding concerns that may be raised to your attention and take the relevant actions to support mitigation of potential risk.
If you have a non-urgent safeguarding concern for a student, you can tell a member of staff or complete the safeguarding referral form and email to safeguarding@solent.ac.uk. We will let you know that we have received the notification, but will be limited as to what else we can tell you, due to GDPR.
Attached to the form are some guidance notes, please read these before completion. If you have any further queries or need to discuss a case prior to submission of a form, please call Charlie Perrin or Daniel Inns, or the Student Hub who will be happy to guide you.
A safeguarding form must be completed on all occasions where further safeguarding actions or enquiries need to take place.
