Multi-Factor Authentication
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is part of your university sign-in.
When you access some university services and systems, you may need to verify your identity via multi-factor authentication (MFA) following the input of your username and password. This adds an extra layer of security, while off campus or when using non-university equipment.
When you first try to log into one of the MFA-enabled systems or services you will be prompted to configure a secondary authentication method.
You only need to do this set up once, however you can edit your MFA preferences at any time.
What is multi-factor authentication?
MFA adds an extra layer of security, following the input of your username and password, when you access some university services and systems while off campus.
MFA uses additional methods to verify who you are when you sign in; this could be an app on your work or personal smart phone, tablet, or a phone call. You will probably have come across MFA already when doing online banking or online shopping.
