Submitting absence requests

Important information when submitting your absences through Check-In

Requesting absences of 8 days – 28 days in Check-In

If you are requesting an absence of 8 days and up to 28 days, please follow the steps outlined below (requests of over 28 days will not be accepted).

The reason for your absence and the supporting evidence required are the same as the extenuating circumstances policy.

  1. Email the relevant team regarding your absence (see below)
  2. Include the following information in your email:
    1. Your name and student number
    2. The dates (from and to) of your requested absence
    3. The reason for your absence, relevant notes and the correct supporting evidence (Please see Page 7 onwards) >>> https://students.solent.ac.uk/official-documents/quality-management/academic-handbook/2p-extenuating-circumstances.pdf
  3. In addition to the above, if you are an apprentice, please ensure your line manager has emailed the apprenticeship team to confirm they are aware of your absence from the programme. You will need to confirm, in your email, that you have made your line manager aware of your absence and that this has been agreed.
