Work abroad

Work abroad during studies, during the summer and up to a year after graduation

Working abroad offers you a unique chance to gain real-world experience in an international setting - whether through course-related placements, summer jobs, or graduate roles. These opportunities help build professional networks, enhance CVs, and develop key skills like adaptability, communication, and cultural awareness.

From short-term internships to longer placements, students can explore global industries while receiving financial support through schemes like Turing. Graduates can also take advantage of international job markets, opening doors to exciting careers around the world.

The international office works closely with the Solent Careers to support students with these opportunities.

Visas

Since Brexit, UK nationals require a visa to work in most countries in the world. Each country will have its own requirements and therefore we are unable to advise, but your employer should be able to support you. You can find out more by visiting the Foreign and Development Office’s travel advice pages and searching for the country of your choice.
