Volunteer abroad

You could participate in projects with Challenges Abroad in Tanzania, Peru, Thailand, Cambodia, South Korea, and more working on community, sports, or wellbeing projects.
Or, experience community immersion or cultural adventure in the Fiji Islands, Indonesia, and Bali with Think Pacific.

Funding explained
All students
All students receive £17 per day as living costs.
- for a 14-day project you will receive £238 towards your project
- For a 28-day project you will receive £476 towards your project
You will be considered disadvantaged if you receive full maintenance from Student Finance or can evidence a household income below £25,000 a year.
Disadvantaged students
Disadvantaged students will receive £21 per day as living costs, plus contribution towards travel, insurance, visa and vaccine costs.
- For a 14-day project you will receive £294 towards your project
- For a 28-day project you will receive £588 towards your project
Travel is only for disadvantaged students and is a contribution towards your travel cost up to a specific amount according to distance from the UK, you will need to provide evidence of payments.

How to apply
Here's how you can apply for funding to support your fundraising for volunteering abroad.
- Sign up and pay your deposit with your chosen organisation.
- Self-enrol and subscribe on to the SOL page where the process is explained and you can apply.
- Talk to your course leader.
- Come to one of the drop-ins in the Spark’s Workshop to talk to the team about your plans.
- Book an appointment with us.
- Apply for funding on Gateway.
Deadline for applications
The deadline to apply for funding for volunteering abroad is 1 May.
