Locking up process
Locking up is a lengthy and complicated process that follows an approved routine. The locking up process has to ensure that security of the building is established quickly, while at the same time maintaining emergency escape routes for people vacating the building.
After 9pm, if the facilities assistants discover people working, they will courteously remind and advise them that the University will be closing in the next hour and request the premises be vacated at their earliest convenience.
Please co-operate fully with facilities assistants during this process, as this is a very busy time for them in carrying out their duties of securing the buildings.
Emergency contact
If you are working late at night in areas of the University, other than the library, you must inform reception on 3200. If you are unfortunate enough to be locked in, please phone the keyholder on:
- 07703 207227
You should be aware there could be a delay in the duty facilities assistant responding to a person trapped in the building, so please be patient.
To report or enquire about any lost property, please email reception at reception@solent.ac.uk with the subject 'Lost Property Enquiry'.
