Student Village
In the Student Village you will find the support services you need during University provided in the Student Hub space. Solent Careers, and Solent Creatives are also located in the Village. Full details of how we support students are below.
The Student Village also provides a common room area for students to work collaboratively or relax.
What you'll find in the Village
The Workshop (JM108) is an informal space for you to work collaboratively or take a break. It has kitchenette facilities and a fridge. Commuting students are particularly welcome to take advantage of this space. During the day there may be student experience staff working here, but you are always welcome to use the space. Please be considerate of workshops or activities that may be taking place.
If you find you need a calm environment or are experiencing sensory overload, we have created a quiet room for you to use.
The multi-faith room is a safe space for employees and students to meditate, pray or rest. Washing facilities are located opposite the room.
Location and accessibility. The Student Village is wheelchair-accessible through The Spark Atrium. It can also be accessed through floor one of the JM building.

There are lots of ways to get help. Whether you have a problem with your course, finances, personal life or mental health, Student Services are here to help. We will endeavour to answer your query and if we can’t, we will find the appropriate person or specialist team to do so. Please see below the teams that can support you through your time at Solent as a student.
The Student Hub is the first point of contact for any queries relating to your course or any personal matters which may be affecting your studies at the University, and can help with the following:
- Questions about your course
- Wellbeing
- Student funding questions
- To whom it may concern letters,
- Council tax exemption certificates
- Bank letters
- Replacement campus cards
- References
- Advice on regulations, processes and policy.

Solent Creatives
Solent's student-powered freelancing agency. Pop in to find out about paid freelancing opportunities, with lots of support from the team to help get you started.
You don't need equipment - the team have all sorts of kit available and a suite of Macs that you can use. A great way to learn the skills of a freelancer, get paid and boost your portfolio!

The Workshop
A collaboration and breakout space with kitchenette facilities (including a microwave) that students can use at any time. Please note that there may be sessions running in this space to support guided learning, depending on the day/time – all sessions will be advertised on the portal events calendar.

Solent Careers
Our dedicated careers team will be available between 12.30-3.30pm, Monday-Friday. No need to book an appointment, just drop in! Solent Careers offer employability and enterprise advice and support to students and graduates, to help you achieve your ambitions. Talk to the team to find out about jobs, starting a business, CVs, your LinkedIn profile and more!

Sensory room
A calm and quiet space for students to use. This might be helpful if you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed or experiencing sensory overload. There are different types of seating, a bubble tube, lamps, blinds and blankets for you to utilise.

Multi-faith room
A safe space for employees and students to meditate, pray or rest. Washing facilities are located opposite the room.
